Week 1 Travel Highlights April 12, 2010 U17 Boys - Competing in a mixed division of U17 and U19 teams, the Indiana U17 boys squad came up just short with a 3-2 loss to Woodland Hills. With no time left on the clock, a penalty shot from just outside the box by Josh Doran barely missed its target which would have ended the game in a tie. Scoring the Indiana goals were Ian Shephard and Mason Lockard. The defense was led by strong performances from Kevin Kerr, and Scott McKirgan who stood guard at the keeper position. U14 Co-ed (Indiana Black Sox) - The Indiana Black Sox U14 Co-ed team played a very strong game at home against Mt. Pleasant. The Black Sox came out on top with 5 goals in the first half to finish the game with a 5-2 score. Casey Newcomer scored twice, Jacob Baecker also added two scores on penalty kicks while Cole Rosenberger finished the scoring for Indiana. Peter Short and Thomas Nakrosis shared duties at keeper, with Peter Short recording a first half shut out. The Black Sox travel to Hempfield next week. U14 Girls (Indiana Destroyers) - The Indiana Destroyers U14 girls team played away against the Tri-City Maddogs at Wolfpack Park in Lower Burell. Indiana came away with a 2-0 win with goals by Noel Hartle and Lorraine Yerger. Hannah Schwartz was in goal the entire game and had 13 saves. Indiana will host Murrysville next week at the White Township Recreation Complex. U12 Co-ed (Indiana Storm) - The Indiana Storm U 12 co-ed team beat the Murrysville Panthers yesterday 4-0. Leading the way with goals were David McKelvy, Grant Sharp, Ben Turner, and Tori Garzarelli. Charlie Bennett chipped in with an assist. Holding the shut out in goal was Kellen Short and Brian Bowesox. Indiana is away at Somerset next week. U12 Girls (Indiana Flames) - The Indiana Flames U12 Girls team triumphed over Murreysville Lucky Flames in a hard fought game by the score of 3-1. Fiona Murphy , Annie Tortorella and Logan Everett teamed up for the three Flames goals. Sharing the keeper responsibilities were Logan Everett, with 4 saves in the 1st half, with Grace Zimmerman stopping 3 shots in the 2nd half. Indiana will host Greensburg next week at he White Township Recreation Complex. |
